Nillumbik’s Youth Council have elected their new Youth Mayor and Youth Deputy Mayor at a meeting held on Monday night.

Kirra Imbriano was named Youth Mayor, with Orianna Edmonds named Youth Deputy Mayor.

Youth Mayor Imbriano said “I am really passionate about the environment, LGBTQIA+ rights, mental health and reconciliation. I would love to continue to create a safe space for everyone's ideas to be heard and respected.”

Youth Deputy Mayor Edmonds said “as a young person who has grown up my entire life in Nillumbik and still currently live and work here, my passion for this beautiful shire is really strong and I love this part of the world - especially the land, so protecting our climate and environment is important to me.”

Mayor Ben Ramcharan said “Youth Council and its Youth Mayor and Deputy Youth Mayor serve a really important function at Nillumbik. The perspective, enthusiasm and action that comes from this cohort is inspiring, and now they have their peer elected leaders to guide the way in 2023.”

“I wish Kirra and Orianna the best of luck in their new positions, as they lead Youth Council through the challenges and successes of the coming year.”
