Nillumbik Youth Priorities 2026-2029

Nillumbik Shire Council in collaboration with the Nillumbik Youth Council are inviting young people aged 12-25 to have an active voice in their community by completing our Youth Survey to help shape our priorities over the next four years.

Results from our last survey in 2021 highlighted that young people wanted a dedicated space. We listened to this feedback and opened Nillumbik’s first Youth Hub in Diamond Creek in 2024. The 2021 survey responses also helped inform a range of events and initiatives as outlined in our Youth Strategy 2022-2026

This is an opportunity for young people to provide feedback on important issues that affect them and support Council to create opportunities that will contribute to a healthier, happier and more connected youth community. The survey is designed to capture a wide range of views, ideas and perspectives that help Council learn more about what change local young people want to see in the community. Your feedback will help inform the Youth Priorities for the Nillumbik Shire Council to address over the next four years.

Nillumbik Shire Council’s Youth Strategy 2022-2026 provides an integrated approach to ensuring that we continue to value and incorporate young people into Council by providing meaningful opportunities for young people, valuing their contributions and empowering them to help shape our community.

This strategy has been informed by Young Minds: Your Voice, Our Future community consultation with almost 900 young people and key internal and external stakeholders and sets out the strategic priorities and focus areas for Council’s next four years’ of planning and delivery.

Young Minds: Your Voice, Our Future

The Young Minds: Your Voice, Our Future youth engagement program aimed to engage a diverse representation of young people through a range of activities, supported by a youth survey.

Up to 900 young people between 12 – 25 years of age, who live, work, study or play in Nillumbik participated in the engagement which ran from 14 June to 20 July 2021.
