On the road to success with the TAC L2P Program

Learning how to drive and getting your licence is a key milestone on the road to independence.

Not everyone has access to a supervising driver, lessons or a car in order to achieve a mandatory 120 supervised driving hours.

The TAC L2P Nillumbik program helps young learner drivers get the support and access needed to complete their mandatory 120 supervised drive hours.

Through the program, learner drivers will benefit from:

  • professional driving lessons
  • access to trained L2P driver mentor volunteers
  • use of our L2P cars to learn in.

“We often take learning how to drive as a rite of passage, but not everyone has someone who can teach them, or access to everything they need to make it a smooth process,” said Nillumbik Mayor Ben Ramcharan.

“Gaining these skills is a way to help learner drivers feel independent and capable. We’re lucky to have the expertise of our volunteers to help guide them to success.”

Past participants not only learnt to drive, but also built confidence, skills and made new friends through the program.

"Doing the L2P program was the best thing I could’ve done. My mentor and I were able to get all my hours done in a great time frame. I left the program feeling confident about my driving skills and ready to drive safely on my own."

"This is an excellent program with incredibly kind and supportive staff and volunteers. It took all the stress out of getting my licence and I got to make a friend along the way. I couldn't recommend it enough."

"As someone that moved out of home and didn't have someone to teach me how to drive, the L2P program has been brilliant. I couldn't have gotten my P's without the program, it has given me so much confidence."
