Youth Council Applications are Open for 2025-2027
Nillumbik Shire Council are seeking applications for the next Youth Council 2025-2027. The Youth Council is a Formal Advisory Committee of Council that consists of up to 15 young people aged 15-25 who live, work, study or play within Nillumbik.
Purpose
- To provide a way for young people to highlight issues, needs and aspirations important to them directly to Council
- To build confidence, skills and knowledge in young people including leadership, community, team work and project management skills
- To provide advice, feedback and input, on behalf of young people in Nillumbik, into the development of Council strategies, policies, projects and decision making
- To provide a platform for young people to have a say and lead projects that impact their lives
- To initiative projects, events and activities that aim to support, empower and improve the lives of young people in Nillumbik
- To educate young people about local government and the role it plays in shaping the community
The Nillumbik Shire Council Youth Council will consist of up to fifteen (15) young people aged 15-25 years of age who are passionate about being involved in their community and representing the views, ideas and needs of young people in the Nillumbik area.
Selection Criteria
Youth Council members must be aged 15-25 years of age and live, work, study, volunteer or play in Nillumbik and be available from 4.30-6.30pm on the first Monday of every month to meet in person at the Nillumbik Youth Hub in Diamond Creek.

Nillumbik Youth Council
The Youth Council is a Formal Advisory group that consists of 15 young people aged 15-25 who live, work, study or play within Nillumbik. The Youth Council will be responsible for the delivery of the Youth Strategy and Action Plan, which sets out the priorities and actions for young people to lead with the support of Council across their two-year term.
