Not only does the TAC L2P Nillumbik program help young people with getting their P’s, we are helping young people pursue their life dreams and become good citizens. Our mentor volunteers prove that they play a crucial role in supporting young people with so much more than learning to drive.

Bertrand began learning to drive with TAC L2P Nillumbik in late 2012 and got his P’s 2 years later. Since then he has gone on to study, get a job, looking to buy a house and is now a mentor volunteer himself. His only regret is that he is unable to volunteer at Nillumbik as he lives out of the municipality.

See below Bertrand’s message that his mentor Joy was delighted to receive.

Hi Joy it’s Bertrand here, I hope you’re going well! It’s been a long time since we’ve spoken but I just want to let you know that I’ve been on my full licence for about a year now and I have just started up as a mentor for the L2P driving program in Moonee Valley!

You really inspired me to become a mentor since you really played a crucial role in my development as a young adult and you volunteered your time to others and giving back to the community, and I feel inspired to do the same thing. I really couldn’t be in the position I’m in right now without you and working for a large scale engineering surveying firm handling government civil construction projects without your help in getting my licence.

I really hope all is well with you and I hope to talk soon! Bertrand
